Menstrual Health

Friendship

 Let's chat about waiwhero (menstruation).

Breaking the silence around the menstrual cycle is crucial for reducing the stigma and shame that often surrounds it, particularly for adolescents. Despite progress, those who menstruate still face obstacles in receiving proper support and guidance from medical professionals. It's important to recognise that a woman's hormonal balance fluctuates throughout the month influenced by factors like exercise, stress, sleep, and diet, shaping her cycle experience. It's time to advocate for an open discussion about menstruation and its intersections with nutrition, stress, exercise, and overall well-being. By creating a supportive environment, individuals can feel more at ease seeking information and guidance about menstruation in a comprehensive way. This approach is vital in safeguarding against negative impacts on the female and developing bodies of girls.

How can a nutritionist help with menstrual health?

A nutritionist can help with menstrual health by guiding how nutrition and dietary choices can affect the menstrual cycle. Additionally, a nutritionist can support conditions such as PMS, irregular cycles, and menstrual-related issues, offering lifestyle recommendations and nutritional strategies to alleviate symptoms and promote a healthy menstrual cycle. Together, we can create a personalised plan that supports your menstrual health through effective diet and lifestyle choices
